Bandit Cyclocross Clinic

What: The Second Annual CRCA/Bandit Racing Cyclocross Clinic

When: Saturday, September 15, 2007, 10 am. Rain or shine.

Where: We’ll meet in Inwood Hill park, near West 215th Street. RSVP to let us know you’re coming and we can give you directions.

Why: Are you gearing up for cyclocross season, or interested in learning more about the sport? Would you like to improve your bike handling, sprinting, power, and confidence? Do you like getting muddy?

What you need: A helmet, shoes, and a bike that you can ride on grass and over bumps. You should be able to run in your shoes (i.e., no road cleats). It will be easier to shoulder your bike if you take the bottle cages off, though that’s optional. Also bring: CRCA membership card, USA Cycling license, and a team or club jersey.

What you’ll be doing: The clinic is intended to be a fun, casual introduction to the sport for all levels and abilities. We’ll go over basic skills — starting, dismounting, jumping over barriers, running with your bike, etc. — and do some low-key race simulations.

Topics to be covered:

  • Equipment and clothing
  • Preparing for racing
  • Warming up
  • Dealing with different terrain
  • Mounting and dismounting the bike
  • Running for ‘cross
  • Tactics and strategy
  • and much more

Email info@banditcycling.com with any questions.

Update: Here are some pictures from the clinic.
